2) The Purple Pastry Chef
The Purple Pastry Chef is a small business run in a food truck certified by L.E.A.F. Pastries are handed out in 100% recyclable and compostable take out containers made from postconsummer material.
Moreover, they are also made with home-grown berries, apples, cherries, mint, anise, lemon balm and all sorts of edible flowers such as pansies, violets, roses, apple blossoms, fuchsias, bachelor buttons and many more.
3) Bluplanet Recycling inc.
Bluplanet Recycling inc. is an award winning local service provider that has quickly established itself as Calgary’s recycling and organics experts, and one of our Top 15 Sustainable Initiatives in Alberta!
4) Hop Compost
Thousands of pounds of food scraps have been saved from landfill by Hop Compost’s restaurant clientele. Pound by pound, it has been transformed into their signature product, Hop Organic Craft Compost, to benefit local growers.
Each generation of food supports the next.
5) D.I.G.
D.I.G. (Do It Green) has defined a practical and sustainable business which tackles the problem of event waste management. In addition, D.I.G. is also one of the very few event management companies to provide free and accessible clean water to the masses during public events.
6) Localize
Localize transforms how grocers label, promote, and source local products. The result are proven: better business for grocers, exposure for local food producers, and empowered shoppers.
7) Fiasco Gelato
Fiasco Gelato uses the best quality ingredients they can get their hands on. Fruit from places who care, nuts from the homeland of Gelato, milk from their own backyard, sugar from a cane and nothing GMO.

As a company, Rosso Coffee Roasters has traveled to Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia to purchase green coffee directly from producers. What’s more, they plan for return visits to harness and build on those relationships – with the same care and intention they maintain relationships with their cafe customers and suppliers.

9) River Cafe
River Cafe is dedicated to sourcing the best tasting local ingredients in season. They connect directly with growers and producers at their farms, gardens and ranches, and carefully choose those purveyors who are responsible stewards of the land.
Lastly, River Cafe supports and honours the connection to these farms by always identifying the provenance of their ingredients on menu.
10) Rocky Mountain Soap Company
With the opening of its first toxin-free store in Calgary in 2015, Rocky Mountain Soap has committed to producing only 100% natural and toxin free products.
Rocky Mountain Soap has a Red List of ingredients it will never use, such as artificial colourants, sulfates, and byproducts from animals that were harmed or killed.
11) The Coup
At The Coup restaurant, products have been selected based on deep ecological ethics, allowing for a large percentage of their ingredients to be organic, local & made from scratch. Along with their cheeses being rennet-free, all of their soy products & grains are GMO-free.

Alberta Apparel creates their clothing line using sustainable fabrics, mainly bamboo and organic cotton. All of Alberta Apparel’s products are proudly made in Canada.
Their goal is to increase clothing manufacturing in their home province, while making high quality items of clothing that will last longer and avoid the back of the closet!

13) Black Sheep Mattress
Black Sheep Mattress Company hand-crafts mattresses with local and sustainable materials sourced from the US and Canada. This includes Forest Stewardship Council-certified spruce wood, organic wool from the West coast, organic cotton and 100% natural rubber latex.
