1) Botanical PaperWorks

Botanical PaperWorks is an incredible Canadian business that developed a way to create seed paper. As one of the most skilled plant seed manufacturers and designers in North America, this company alone deviates 10 tons of paper from the landfills per year!

2) Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods
As a well respected company across Canada, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods has always prescribed to the triple bottom line approach to business – people, planet, then profit. Their goal is to be ‘world-class’ at everything they do.

3) Cornell Creme
Cornell Creme maximizes its local resources. It is one of Manitoba’s first locally-made artisanal ice cream companies to evolve. They use recyclable and compostable packaging whenever possible which is still challenging to achieve in the frozen food industry. To complete these efforts, the family business composts and uses an earthen storage for their cow manure. They are a great example about family owned businesses can make small changes to become more sustainable!
4) Voila Par Andréanne
Voilà par Andréanne is a Canadian Aboriginal clothing company located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on a mission to provide designs that are both trendy and friendly to the environment.
All of Andréanne’s lovely designs are 100% sustainable and fair-trade. They are also comfortable to wear and represent the latest in fashion.
5) Degrees Restaurant
Degrees Restaurant is operated by University of Manitoba Students’ Union – UMSU and has achieved level 3 against L.E.A.F. who has been helping the Canadian foodservice industry reduce their environmental impact, and make it easier for diners to find certified green restaurants.

Since 2009, LEAF has been helping the Canadian foodservice industry reduce their environmental impact, and make it easier for diners to find certified green restaurants. LEAF is the only national food service certification of its kind.
6) Nuburger
Nuburger is another one of three Manitoban restaurants that have achieved a L.E.A.F. certification, an honour that recognizes sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. They recycle and compost almost everything to reduce the amount of landfill garbage. And that’s not all – all of their takeout packaging and napkins are either recyclable or compostable!
7) Step Forward Paper by Prairie Paper
Every year, millions of acres of leftover wheat straw and other agricultural byproducts remain in the fields after harvesting on the Prairies. Manitoba-based Prairie Paper Inc. (Prairie Paper) manufactures Step Forward Paper™, a revolutionary copy paper made up of 80% wheat straw waste and 20% Wood-Fibre which is

9) ArtsJunktion MB
ArtsJunktion mb supports the local arts and creative community through partnerships dedicated to the collection and distribution of reusable materials. Its mandate also includes supporting the environment by reducing materials going to the landfill and by increasing environmental awareness through community engagement and programming.
10) Sustainable Building Manitoba
Sustainable Building Manitoba‘s mission is to be a leader, showcase local innovation, and inspire their stakeholders to create life-enhancing environments. They actively carry out this mission by offering networking and educational opportunities, by promoting collaboration in the local industry and advocating for green building in Manitoba.
11) S3 Interior Design Inc.
S3 Interior Design Inc. is a Winnipeg-based professional interior and lighting design firm focusing their efforts on creating smart, sustainable spaces for commercial and residential environments. They pride themselves in creating spaces that are eco-friendly, emotionally impactful and functional for the needs of their clients.
12) Grass Routes
Grass Routes is the Annual Sustainability Festival at the The University of Winnipeg. It’s celebration of ideas, skills, and creativity for a sustainable future. Through workshops, exhibits, and various lecture/dialogue events, the festival seeks to engage discussion about what sustainability means, what a sustainable world might look like, and how we might get there. Hosted by University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) and the Campus Sustainability Office.
